FreshStudio · Self-initiated
Air Jordan × Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
A 3D film made to settle an argument the internet was already having. Co-directed at FreshStudio, the studio I co-founded and ran.
The reason it exists
Miles was wearing the wrong shoes.
When the Spider-Man: Miles Morales PS5 game launched, sneaker and Spidey fans reacted to a detail the game had changed: in the comics and in Into the Spider-Verse, Miles wears Air Jordan 1 Retro Highs. In the game he wears Adidas.
Nobody briefed this. We made a piece that reunites Miles with Air Jordan and celebrates the connection the audience already felt was his. Self-initiated work is how a young studio shows what it can do before a client is willing to pay for it, and this is the piece FreshStudio became known for.
How it was made
Scamps, style frames, then build.
I co-directed the piece from storyboard and scamps through style frames to the finished film, setting the look, the pacing and the reveal. It was made by the two of us: I designed and art-directed, Steve Jones did the 3D and motion.
